Ron Krikke

Inducted 2023

The Krikke name is synonymous with Sprintcar racing throughout the nation, spearheaded by the exploits of two-time Australian Sprintcar champion and three time WA Sprintcar Champion, Ron Krikke.

Beginning in 1981 after Ron's older brother Peter purchased a Sprintcar from the touring Bob Trostle American team, Ron was asked to drive the car with Peter seeing Sprintcars as a great promotional tool for his business Bunbury Toyota.

Ron won his first event in his fourth ever race at Albany Speedway, and would claim the 1984 WA Sprintcar Title before winning the biggest race of them all, the 1985 Australian Sprintcar Title at Claremont and backing it up in 1995.

Ron retired from active racing after winning the final event at Claremont in 2000 marking 45 wins at the venue, and alongside older brother John, went on to take over the promotion of the hometown venue of Bunbury Speedway from 2006 through to 2020.

Now, the Bunbury Bullet nickname will be forever etched in Speedway history as we welcome to the Australian Speedway Hall of Fame for 2023, the legendary Ron Krikke.
