Ian Boettcher

Inducted 2024

The name Ian Boettcher is synonymous with the speedway industry, after six decades as a team owner and twenty years running Ian Boettcher Race Parts while also sponsoring multiple teams, tracks, events and series.

Ian has dedicated his life to speedway since he started attending race meetings in his early teenage years which led to buying a Speedcar in the late 1960’s for his close friend Bob Holmes to drive.

After Bob’s tragic death at the Ekka in 1975, Ian turned his attention to sedan racing, offering a seat to Les Pascoe that rendered multiple feature and title wins. Since then, Ian has engaged the biggest names in sedan racing to steer the Q36 including Wayne Randall, Darren Kane and Jamie McHugh that together have amassed five Australian Super Sedan Titles, five National Super Sedan Series, two Australian Late Model Titles and over twenty State Titles.

Ian’s impeccable commitment to presentation in his car dealerships was carried over into his speedway cars, and he has inspired innovation, designing and constructing Super Sedan and Late Model chassis in Australia under the Dominator Race Cars brand while also having hands-on involvement with Speedcar chassis and engine development.

Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway now hosts the annual Ian Boettcher Classic for Super Sedans to honour the man that has backed countless racers and events throughout his life, and tonight, the Australian Speedway community welcomes Ian Boettcher to the Hall of Fame.
